Getting Ready

I don't know if other moms feel like this or not, but sometimes I get so tired of "getting ready" I think I am going to go insane. The getting ready routine at our house starts every night with picking out clothes, making lunches, signing papers, etc etc. Then the morning routine starts. I am fixing hair, dressing, changing diapers, showering and bathing (if we didn't do it the night before) helping to brush teeth, etc. Sometimes we will do really good in the morning and then lose it in the details. The matching socks or a specific hair band will be no where to be found. Then there is the list of things I have to gather to take with us. Do I have a change of clothes for my little one who is potty training? Oh and I need to make sure she used the potty before we leave the house. Do I have bibs, diapers, sippy cups, book bags, lunch boxes, snacks, ??? The list goes on and on.... Sometimes when I get in the car and finally get on my way in the mornings, I am so tired.. and then I wonder why I can barely remember to comb my hair and brush my teeth. I have no idea how these moms do it that have make up perfect, every hair in place and the perfect outfit on every time you see them. Their house must not be like mine in the morning. I am lucky to get out of my PJ's and into real clothes. "Getting ready" is not a chore you can tire of and just skip for the day. If you want to leave the house, and most everyday we must leave the house, you have to "get ready". And I am sure if your kids are like mine this is not only a task that you do once a day, we must do it 2 or 3 times a day. The kids come in the house, get completly filthy, take off their socks and shoes, get their lunch all over them, rip their hair bows out and once again you find yourself, redressing, refixing, and redoing everything you worked so hard to accomplish that morning, to go out again that evening. I know someday it will get easier and I will once again just have myself to worry about, but in the meantime please tolerate my sweat pants and pony tail. The "getting ready" in our house is quite a chore!!!

Wouldn't it be great to have at least one day a week that we could all stay home, keep everyone in their PJ's ( mom and dad included) and not "get ready"??? Hey, I might even settle for one day a month!!!
