I am sitting on the couch, E and M are asleep beside me, and my hubby is watching the game the next chair over. We have had such a great Saturday. We usually have a laundry list of work, church, sports commitments to fill our Saturdays. Today we had a break. We got up and began our day with absolutely nothing on our agenda. It was such a great feeling. We did a quick clean-up of our house and headed to a local event at a park about 4 miles from our house. Okay so Z and I both admit that the event was a little hokey, but the kids loved it. We went on a hay ride through the woods, did crafts, and listened to some blue grass music. Ten years ago Z and I would have walked into something like this and turned right around, but I think 10 years and 3 kids later have changed our taste quite a bit. As long as the kids are happy and we are spending time together, we can have fun at just about anything!!!! Earlier that morning S had gotten up begging to go to a pumpkin patch. I got online and found a pumpkin patch about 10 miles from our house. After we finished at the park we headed to the pumpkin patch. Once again the pumpkin patch was a little disappointing for Z and I. We took our second hay ride of the day to the pumpkin patch. This time the tractor broke down and we had to finish our journey on foot. The kids enjoyed seeing where the pumpkins were growing. ( I don't think E quite got it, He kept asking "when are we going to the pumkin patch?" all the way home. I am not sure what he thought a pumkin patch would be). Sydney told me when she went to bed that she had such a fun day. She couldn't believe that she had asked to go to a pumpkin patch and we were just able to go. For some reason I think I better enjoy this while it last. It will not always be this easy to please them.
