Wow! Can't believe it has been 2 months since I have posted an update. Many times I am hesitant to post because I don't have a picture to download. Although I do enjoy looking back over the pictures, I know my jounal entries will be something special to review in years to come too. So...no pictures for today, just an update.
As I look back over the title, I realize that catching up is something that is not possible (maybe I should rename?) When I last left off we were right in the middle fall ball. Ethan had lots of fun and really enjoyed playing the game and socializing with his teammates. I cannot believe Oct and Nov have come and gone. We have enjoyed a little break from ball these last 2 months but have hardley noticed we had a break. Our most recent news is the addition of our new puppy, Nate. This is our second dog in 3 years...not too good a track record. The kids never really got over the Max give away and now in retrospect, with a little education and puppy training skills I think he would have been fine.....but he has a new home and is very happy there. So were are back in puppy mode with our new dog Nate. He is a lab mix and seems to be adjusting to us quite well. I am definitely handling puppy training much better and all seems to be going good. We have just started puppy classes with him...I think it will be good for all of us.
We did manage to squeeze in a camping trip in Oct. We went with a couple from work and their little boy. We camped in an RV park and although we had a good time, we decided that State Park camping was more our style. I missed the woods and the trees and the large campsites! The mountains were beautiful. The kids enjoyed the hike to Amicolola Falls, I was very impressed with M, she made it almost the whole way without being carried.
Halloween was fun, we did a fall festival at our chuch. We had the biggest crowd ever. The girls were Fancy Nancy and E was an army man. We had quite a trip the night before they were to wear their costumes to school, getting last minute stuff. Hard lesson learned... I will never wait until the last minute to do halloween costumes again. Between and budget, crowds, tiredness, and very opinionated children is was definitely a challenge. Z was out of town and missed all the halloween festivities. I kept him up to date with pictures from my cell phone.
I survived Z being out of town for two weeks in October. I was dreading this, but now that it is over, I am proud that I managed it well and know that sometimes when put to the challenge, I am stronger than I think. During the time Z was out of town my dad was hospitilized for a GI Bleed. I was frustrated being home without a hubby, because I could not help my mom as mush as I wanted. I was reminded of this time last year when my dad was in the hospital the night of the great flood. During that hospital stay, I was trapped in our neighborhood with the bridge out...unable to be any help. Very frustrating. Shortly after he was discharged from the hospital, he developed an infection. This turned into another long hospital stay. Hopefully were have had our share of hospitals for the year!
Okay, well I have decided I definitely need to update more. I loose (forget) all the personal touches and the day to day stories that I continually encounter. Those stories that make life funny, sweet, happy and sad...the stuff that keeps us going!
