Those Boys!!!

I thought you moms of boys would appreciate this post!

Raising a boy is so much fun. I am learning so much!! I have always known that men and women are very different (as evidenced by being married 10 years to my husband), but I have always thought that most of those differences were a product of how we were raised. Now that I have E, I am learning that some of that boy/men behavior just comes in the DNA. Sorry girls, we are fighting an uphill battle.

This morning I was having a difficult time getting E to get off the couch (more boy behavior!), so in order to motivate him I reminded him of his tee-ball practice last night and the fact that C, a boy in his school class was also on his tee-ball team. I said, " come on E, I bet C will be at school and you can talk to him about your tee-ball practice last night." Naturally, thinking like a girl, I thought that would excite him. I assumed he would go to class and find C and talk to him about happenings at their tee-ball practice last night. E obviously does not think like I do. After my suggestion, he looked at me, quite matter of fact, and said "Mom, C was there last night. He knows all about it" There you go plain and simple, what is left to say!!

Although, E and I were just having a simple conversation about a his tee-ball practice, he nailed the difference in communication between men and women. Women like to relive our experiences. It is not uncommon for me to have just been at an "event" with a girlfriend and turn around and call her the next day just to "talk about the event". Men on the other hand have said all they need to say at the "event" and have no desire to relive the event again. This includes talking about the "event" on the way home with their wives!!! Oh well girls, what are we to do?? It seems like these communication issues are "built-in". Okay I guess it is too late for our husbands, maybe we can just work on our boys. Their wives will thank us for it!!!
